Biography
Whether he is performing on stage, film or television, experiencing Yuval David is extraordinary.
A soulful performer with depth beyond his age, Yuval is a strong actor. Directors and casting directors have commented on his compelling and varied performances in both comedy and drama. They often compare his talent, style and intrigue to Meryl Streep, Kevin Kline, Robin Williams, and Kevin Spacey. Yuval is destined to achieve the "it boy" heartthrob status of other young actors such as Jake Gyllenhaal, Elijah Wood and Orlando Bloom.
But, Yuval is unique. His characters shine from a depth of personality, charm and talent. A highly motivated individual, he thoroughly weaves together his mind, body and soul allowing his characterizations to rush forth in a gush of energy. Each character is able to show subtle nuance and bold emotion.
A true leading-man actor with mastery of improvisation, Yuval's versatility has been described as "chameleon-like" by critics and audiences alike. He makes an art of portraying a gallery of characters. His dead-on observation of human life allows him to deeply penetrate each character. He has secured a wonderful reputation among his peers and garnered their respect through his charming positive attitude and easy going, good nature.
The son of internationally renowned dancer and choreographer Ziva Cohen, Yuval was raised in an artistic home. Since early childhood he knew he would become an actor. He made the realization while in nursery school when his parents took him to see Lily Tomlin in her one-woman show "The Search for Signs of Intelligent Life in the Universe." His parents recall him being amazed that the job of this woman on stage was to use her imagination and play all while getting an audience full of people to react together.
Growing up in Washington, D.C., in a cultural family with friends from around the globe, Yuval not only spoke various languages, but he developed a heightened awareness of people and humanity. His family tells stories of how he would put on shows for them, and imitate their friends with surprising attention to movement, intonation and accents.
Yuval then proceeded to train in the performing arts, focusing on acting in addition to dance and clowning. Today, with a strong background in dance and physical theatre, he incorporates his agility in playing roles with intuition and sensitivity.
Early in his career, Yuval was awarded the Maryland Distinguished Scholar in the Talent of the Arts and the University of Maryland Creative and Performing Arts scholarships. His talent led him to perform in regional theatres around the country, Off-Broadway and Off-Off Broadway.
After acting in theatre for many years, Yuval now focuses on television and film. He has built credits playing leads in films, television shows, commercials, and voice-overs. Yuval currently spends his time between New York and Los Angeles.
